A double rainbow over North Perth Community Garden.

Local history award winners

At the behest of the Vincent Local History team and as part of NPCG’s 10th Birthday celebrations Colin Scott, our inaugural Chairperson and Emma Vosnacos, our current Chairperson have been writing the 10year History of North Perth Community Garden, a project that has taken 6 months to complete. It is a 9000 word document complete with photos, personal perspectives from several members over the years and images of the site before the garden or Vincent Men’s Shed were constructed. It was a great nostalgic walk down memory lane, we have achieved a huge amount in 10 years and so many people have given their heart and soul to making it a success.

A 3000 word extract was submitted to the Local History Awards held Sat 18th Nov at Vincent Library. Our extract won 3rd prize out of 18 submissions in the written section at the awards. A fantastic achievement and great recognition for a quality document.

From a neglected weedy space to the thriving vibrant community hub it now is, we have much to celebrate and be proud of. NPCG is a desired  destination for many people, members and non- members alike. All members can be justifiably  proud of their part in making this garden what it has become today. Both the extract and the full document have been lodged with the Vincent Local History Centre, along with digital copies of all our past newsletters.

For interested members there is a hard copy of both the extract and the full version in the main shed.
